So much to do, so little time.

Ok, if you were in Germany, and you were going to celebrate your birthday, what would you do? Bear in mind that most of the countries in Europe are pretty cheap and easy to get to... The birthday bash could be in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, or almost any European country. So many options... What would you do?

Being in Europe is cool in itself. I think you have the right idea, check out some of the other countries, maybe have multiple parties? :D

Come to Scotchland.

And then we'll hop a flight to Ireland, because they have better pubs.

Yeah, I have a four day weekend from 02JUL to 05JUL. Problem is, my birthday is 10JUL. I'll definitely celebrate twice... On my birthday itself, I was thinking of going to a Renaissance festival. For the four day weekend, however, the possibilities are endless...

I'll be celebrating my 21st birthday (although drinking age in Europe tends to be 18 anyway). I need all the ideas I can get.

How do the Irish feel about Americans? 'Cuz I'm very obviously American and I really don't feel like kicking anyone's @$$ on my birthday (kinda dampens the fun)...

Irish are cool. They have a dislike for patronising Americans. Don't fall into that category.

And the English. Then again who doesn't?

They spat on my uncles car because it had a GB sticker on it and they thought he was english, then he got out the car and swore at them in a Glaswegian accent and they bought him beer all night. Go Irish!

I've always wanted to go to Ireland. Also, Florence, Italy. I love architecture and when I go to Kent State, they let the juniors study abroad there. I'm gonna love that.

Boo Renassanve festival! You want to re-enact the middle ages, join the SCA, dammit.

Anyway, I'm in agreement with Scourge on this one. Definitely hit Ireland. Pints of Guinness 'till dawn!

There is an old saying to the effect that King Midas for a long time hunted the wise Silenus, the companion of Dionysus, in the forests, without catching him. When Silenus finally fell into the king's hands, the king asked what was the best thing of all for men, the very finest. The daemon remained silent, motionless and inflexible, until, compelled by the king, he finally broke out into shrill laughter and said, 'Suffering creature, born for a day, child of accident and toil, why are you forcing me to say what is the most unpleasant thing for you to hear? The very best thing for you is totally unreachable: not to have been born, not to exist, to be nothing. The second best thing for you, however, is this: to die soon.'"
- Friedrich Nietszche, The Birth of Tragedy

How can you be so sure? Humans will never come to understand each other. You said that she is the person you love, but can you say that you even truly understand each other? All humans do is place themselves at a comfortable distance from each other and call that 'mutual understanding', 'spiritual unity', or 'true love'... but it is all lies! Man cannot associate with others without first deceiving themselves. That is the way that they were created.

*Cough* No comment... By the way, I haven't strung up anyone... I'm not due to go to Iraq for about two months (I think).

I'm trying to stay away from the alcohol... I drink WAAY too much. I've become paranoid of alcohol and I'm actually trying to find a hobby now so that I can stay out of trouble. That's why I need ideas... I'm not very creative as far as finding things to do other than drink. Thank you everyone for the ideas you've submitted so far... Any more?

Re: So much to do, so little time.

I decided to just stay here in Darmstadt. I figured, if I'm gonna drink, I might as well stay close to home. I didn't want to drink that much, anyway... I'm paranoid of getting drunk due to this experience. However, I did drink a little and I hung out a lot at the Heinerfest, which is one of the billions of fests they have here in Germany. I had fun, overall. It gave me a chance to get out.

On the actual day of my birthday, I plan to go to Frankfurt.
