Georgia Tech
I've never been to Georgia Tech, but I've been through a number of areas of Georgia including Atlanta.
1) It's HUGE (duh) so if you're going alone, I'd rent a bike or something. Also, call college admin/info and find out about staying somewhere close to the college. Might get nowhere, but it can't hurt to call and see :.) Can also let them know you've been accepted and ask to meet with someone knowledgeable re: the courses you're interested in. In that case, you'll want to have a list of questions, mental or written however it works for you :.) 2) Lots of clay ... driving in the snow/ice should be a fair idea of what driving in clay is like, only clay doesn't melt from tire treads and once it dries you can hang it up 'til it feels like coming out on its own (unless you wanna pick it out with a knife or something) ... before it dries it doesn't matter what kind of surface you're driving on - you might as well be driving with racing tires 3) Try not to let the accent affect how/what you think of the staff *grin* 4) Don't pick up the accent! 5) Weather is much nicer than some areas, but it's not as warm as the bahamas even if the humidity stays about the same :.) 6) Southern mosquitos and chiggers should be respected :.) ... especially chiggers since you can't see them and they're everywhere 7) Check out the swamps if you get a chance via a tour - they're amazing! Just don't mess with the spanish moss or sit on anything near a tree or bushy areas (chigger turf) 8) Last and unfortunate ... racism still thrives there but it can be dealt with :.)

OK, so to sum it up we have a huge city, funny accents, that bone chilling cold that occurs when the humidity is 80% but the temp is 20 degrees, mosquitos and chiggers (whats a chigger?), swamps, and racism.
Sounds like I nice enough place Oh, about the clay... that reminds me when I was little, me and a friend of mine decided it would be fun to ride our bikes through a newly tarred road. When we were done there was a 1 inch thick layer of tar on our tires that practically made our bikes stand on end because it was so sticky. My friend had lots of money so he just bought new tires but I let the stuff come off on its own, which took like two months, during which time my top speed was probably 2 MPH, lol. |

*lol* ... I imagine the tar incident could be similar to clay for sure.
20 degrees isn't too common that far south .... but 40 degrees with 80% humidity can sure feel like 20 or less :.) ... Beautiful springs there though. Chiggers: http://pherec.org/entguides/EntGuide6.html ... more than anyone cares to know about them but should :.) You can get bitten anywhere, but they particularly like behind knees, inside of elbows, most anywhere on your butt, armpits .... anywhere clothes can crease. They don't bother you much if you like poison ivy. On the bright side, the bites don't last quite as long as poison ivy. I think you should sit on a tree stump in the woods, or toss some spanish moss around, and catch a couple for fun *grin* ... call them souveniers :.) ... if you do happen to get any, bleach kills chiggers even if it doesn't do much for the bites.
