Countdown to Nothing
Here's a little bit I wrote a few weeks after a night of tripping psilocybin. I'm open to comments and criticism.
Countdown to Nothing I now reflect on a mushroom trip That followed a sizzling summer day An event that caused my brain to flip While citronella held bugs at bay The corpse that had once been our globe Now was so solemnly silent Scorched forests--its only wardrobe Left by the humans so violent They had hoped for peace of mind And blessing by their fake god Instead they found that in time Their beliefs were a façade This falseness led to hate And that hatred led to war War ended in stalemate Life renewed its vigor Humanity springs To a peaceful age 'Til human beings' Hearts succumb to rage With bombs they toyed Doom now lingers The world destroyed Bony fingers Blackened sky Nature dead Rivers dry Oceans red Rapture? Crazed kooks! God's Wrath? No!! Nukes! One Breath Come Death 0

Re: Countdown to Nothing
Hmm...
Well no one ever commented on this poem of mine with its meter decreasing as it is... I always liked that about it. Anyway, that poem was actually one of three entire poems I wrote that were all inspired by the aforementioned (in the first post) night of tripping mushrooms. This is part 2. I don't know if it will post correctly to this forum (there is a certain way it is meant to look.) At least I know part three will never be posted in this forum because the formatting just wouldn't look right at all. I'll have to attach the MS Word document if anyone is to read it so you can see the proper format. Comments and criticisms welcome... And, of course, I'm still open to criticism on Part 1. -=-=-=-=-=-=- Reawakening of Reason My eyes twitched The real world was back Citronella burned out Mosquitos bit me The corpse resurrected And there were green trees again And a war on an ideology Ah! The perpetual stalemate! Humanity was never at peace Our hearts have always been enraged And the doom? My imagination? The bombs were real. The bony fingers – dead tree branches The black sky? It was nighttime Nature wasn’t dead – just sleeping (hear the birds?) The rivers weren’t dry And those crazed religious zealots! There they are – bombing abortion clinics Inviting Armageddon For a God (that) Doesn’t (want) Exist
