Marriage

Are you married? In a serious relationship? Give a year estimate of when you think you will be married.

When I was younger, I thought I would have been married and had kids by now. No such luck. Probably due to being drawn to unhealthy relationships I can't compel myself to commit fully to. =/

I've actually thought of just letting my parents pick a partner for me.
Anyway, inspired by a post where 1337 said he's married already and I was all like wtf he's an adult now (1) and (2) married, really?

Re: Marriage

There is no amount of memes that I can use about "Women logic" for this, you know the ones that make fun of women who are looking for a "nice guy" but instead they date and "asshole". The best thing instead is to show you this link about the "Prince Charming Paradox"

http://news.nohope.org/?p=931

In abstract the author is saying that all women in this world have already met or will eventually meet what they consider their personal "Prince Charming". The problem is that you will more then likely put them in the "Friend zone" or you already put them there. The author said himself that if any women met their prince tomorrow, they would not know how to handle the situation.

Re: Marriage

I am unmarried. I never thought about whether or not I'd be married at this point, so I guess I'm not disappointed. If I were in a serious relationship I don't think I'd consider marriage any time soon, though. I have to finish university and get myself into a financial position where I can support a family before I start thinking about starting one.

Re: Marriage

Unmarried but in a serious relationship. ( I'm sorry Hashim! We're just not geographically compatible. )My gentlemanly prince charming and I just moved in together! Celebratory root beer floats were had last night, in fact! :)

I see myself getting married in about two or three years, depending on our jobs, etc.

Re: Marriage

That video made me mad. I watched the first 5 seconds, thinking what the hell is this? Then I skipped about 2 minutes, skipped another 2 minutes. Then I started losing all feeling and thought and I couldn't understand why, so it made me angry. I was pissed off at it and I quickly closed that stupid shit. Then I reminded myself why I don't ever click links. Because it's a bunch of shit that I'm not going to like and it's gonna piss me off and make my head hurt. /end stan marsh shit rant lol I love that episode.

Anyway,

Why Danielle? There's a ton of stories out there where the guy ends up getting screwed in divorce. Loses custody to his children, loses his money, his house, his car, everything he's ever dreamed of and achieved. All because she's a bitch. It's really sad how the "system" works.

But men know this and yet they still feel compelled to ask a girl to marry her. It's not worth it unless of course the two people have that "meant to be" type mentality.

Oh speaking of,

I heard 2 years after the main two advocates for gay marriage got married, they divorced! Hahaha! How funny is that? See, why bother? Lol

Would you consider yourself a misogynist? I'm not accusing you of being one. Just genuinely asking what your thoughts are.

Re: Marriage

lol Fuck no. I love women fool.

Marriage really has nothing to do with that, but it kind of does. I do want a woman to call my wife, but not just any fucking broad. Anyone can get married. Easy. Make the marriage last though... First thought of marriage is divorce. People are dumb. lol Sorry, that's my answer.

And what's this about a LEET marriage? That nigga got game! Hahaha

Re: Marriage

I haven't planned an age where I would get married, that seemed silly to me. I planned it more on the amount of time I end up with someone. I wouldn't stay with someone I didn't want to (except that one time where the sex was really good but that doesn't count), so I figure after a year or two of living together with them, that's a good time. I've been dating someone for two years now, and they finish post secondary next year, after that we're moving in together. So another year or so after that.

Logic behind it?

People are awesome, until you live with them. That can change many many things. If I can tolerate someone for 1-2 years living with them after dating them for a significant time period, why not get married? AmIright?

Re: Marriage

Yeah, I never planned to be married at a certain age either. Plans, goals, and employment opportunities change, all of which can seriously affect when one might get married especially since you might not even meet someone you want to spend your life with, or if you do, each persons' career prospects might not be compatible.

Besides if any one of the many factors didn't go just right, not getting married when you thought you would might just lead to depression and many other emotional or psychological issues.

Re: Marriage

I don't know about emotional and psychological issues from not getting married when I thought I would. That seems steep. More like, shrug and grab a beer play some warhammer with the friendlies.

Marriage is complicated. 1337 is right about it not being an obligation.

Re: Marriage

Sadly I'm watching it happen right now. A friend of mine has been struggling lately because he left his longtime girlfriend. But thought he would be married by now. Granted she was emotionally abusive, which probably had a lot to do with it but he talks a lot about how disapointed he is with himself.

Re: Marriage

You know you don't have to get married to be happy. My uncle was divorced a long time ago and when he met his now second wife, they were together for almost 20 years before they got married. and when they got married it was nothing that special and it was done quick. Same thing happened to my parents, my father was divorced and he then married my mother, and their marriage is still going (25 years now) and they approached marriage very causal, they were married by a justice of the peace in front their parents, my older sister, my aunt (mother side) and my father's partner ( he was a paramedic). And that is how I like their approach to marriage, they treat it as living with their best friend and they don't attach a lot of meaning to marriage. They take it serious, but not that serious. if that makes sense to anyone.

Never really had an age I expected to be married.

However, I thought being an adult would feel...well, more adult-like. I still don't, yet, even though I have a car, a mortgage, and a 9-5 job.
