Quick football question

I'm going to a game on Saturday at Ibrox, and we've got hospitality box seats.

Having never done this before, and only having the vaguest idea from what I've seen on the tele - what's the dress code for women? Men can wear a suit and not look overdressed, but it's harder with dresses/suits/skirts/etc for women.

Any ideas?

Re: Quick football question

Is that in Scotland? I don't know what the weather is like at the Ibrox but I've seen just about everything worn here in the United States. If no dress code was given, it at least depends on the company present and what you're aiming for. If in doubt, a respected middleground is probably sports casual, slightly stylish and elegant, not overdone. In the Skybox in Chicago at a Bulls game for example, you might see any age woman wearing a nice T or jersey turtleneck with sportcut slacks and probably a casual sport jacket that can be taken off if it gets too warm. Party dress tends to draw negative attention unless the wearer has no figure. Unfair, but a fact.

Re: Quick football question

i would have to go with pD on this one, however jeans may be a little too low key for box seats unless your friends are wearing casual suits. if you do wear jeans opt for darker jeans, they look better. NO T-Shirts and NO SNEAKERS...

Re: Quick football question

Yes, it's in Scotland - Glasgow actually. And it's at 3pm, so as close to during the day as you can get really, considering how early the sun is going down these days.

And real football, of course. Silly soccer.

I think David might be wearing a suit actually, so it's a bit smarter than jeans. I'm thinking a black pencil skirt, white shirt and pretty scarf (and heels, of course).

i was gonna say heels to begin with, but figured it'd be already past mid-day, so boots were the call.

Men can wear a suit? Are you fucking kidding. I do not know who the fuck said to you go to the ibrox in a suit but that is fucking hilarious Kali, I mean REALLY THAT IS FUNNY STUFF.

Wear what you would at any cold day. Its a football game. hahaha, scotland, Ibrox and a suit. That is pretty damn funny. I can just imagine all the boys from the projects round there in their suits that day.. HAHHAHA.

First note, Glasgow (pron GLASGAE) to those sweaties (bit more slang for you jason) is full of some of the British Governments nastiest ideas in solving housing problems in the north. Nasty, nasty projects that make San Quentin look like time share apartments in orlando. In short kali, you can not underdress to go there. That is all lol.

Also, box seats mean you can wear what you want, there is a dedicated SPL staff member (Scottish premier League) that will kiss your arse even in a paper bag. He will like it there, the staff at most grounds tend to wear blouses and have huge tits.

Damn those sweaties.

And you know I gotta agree with PD though I'd use different terms than "damn you fine ass Kali Zaynab" and it wouldn't make you blush. You'd just mumble "there goes that creep again".

Anyway, I am surprised that you have to dress up at all? I think PCP is right on in that you'll be a VIP. It shouldn't matter what you wear.

I hate fucking dress codes. Is there anything that screams conformity more than a dress code?

Right, there was no need to be a dick about it. I happen to adore Glasgow (which is where my boyfriend is from), and had a fantastic time at Ibrox.

And by the way, everyone was wearing a suit - it was the Euro Club hospitality box (which is up for an international award) with an open bar and an absolutely superb buffet. The seats were amazing, saw Rangers score 5 times right in front of me.

There's no need to tar the entire city just because some people on the East end are scummy. The place is bigger than that, and if you don't like it, then just don't go.
