System of a Down

gah... I can't believe there wasn't a thread for these guys already... anyone get ahold of the latest two CD's? Huh? They were good. Definately something to look into if you like System of a Down.
Here is a track lists in case you care:

Mezmerize
01 Soldier Side (Intro)
02 B.Y.O.B
03 Revenga
04 Cigaro
05 Radio/Video
06 The Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song
07 Violent Pornography
08 Question!
09 Sad Statue
10 Old School Hollywood
11 Lost In Hollywood

Hypnotize
01 Attack
02 Dreaming
03 Kill Rock 'N Roll
04 Hypnotize
05 Stealing Society
06 Tentative
07 U-Fig
08 Holy Mountains
09 Vicinity of Obscenity
10 She' Like Heroin
11 Lonely Day
12 Soldier Side

Scratch that this thread was made: http://www.almostsmart.com/forums/sh...ight=hypnotize
But I don't feel it covered what I am covering. On the plus you can obtain links that I assume are good to get 2 songs which happen to be quite good.
You have to be careful downloading Mezmerize because there are a lot of false tracks I have noticed, and a lot of time you will download the radio version of BYOB.

Re: System of a Down

yeah i got em both, and honestly, they're crap! can't listen to a full song without having to turn it off..the songs are so random that it looses my interest.. the only good albums they let out were the Self Titled Album and Toxicity...
theyre new stuff really dusn't capture my attention, its as if they rushed the album, it could be a hell of alot better....
the only songs i like are: Soldier Side, Lost In Hollywood and Kill Rock 'n' Roll

but overall, i dun like em

Re: System of a Down

hmm... funny all the musicians I talked to loved it including myself. My brother thinks 'it's the best thing since dark side of the moon' but everyone is entitled his own opinion. I do think that a lot of the lyrics are random but that's one of the reasons I think it's so great.

Re: System of a Down

sorry, but i hate system of a down. i simply cannot stand anything about them, never could to tell the truth. they're songs just seems so uninspired, unoriginal, and sometimes downright silly to me.

*shrugs* people's perceptions vary though, so oh well.

ps - is it just me, or is SoaD's lead singer starting to look like weird al with the whole poofy hair thing going on?

I wouldnt go as far as comparing it with dark side of the moon, but both albums are very good...

My views on it, is that either together or seperatly they do better than "Steal This Album", I thought that wasnt their best effort...

these two though reminded me alot of early system from the self titled album, especially the song with "banana banana banana terrecota pie!" or kill rock and roll...some very zaney early styled material, and of course not forgetting there very harsh propaganda material on there...

both of them together I say are excellent, not better than self titled or toxicity, but both good, though out of the two, I would pick Hypnotise as the better album in my honest choice there....it just seems more polished...I couldnt stand BYOB it seemed a lil too all over the place for my liking, and Cigaro after awhile lost its feel to me, the humour kinda ran off, large cocks and smelly shits was only funny for a lil while...it just doesnt ring right after a while now...sugar on the other hand...

Quote:
I got a gun the other day from Sako,
It's cute, small, fits right in my pocket,
Yeah, right in my pocket, (sugar)
My girl, you know,
she lashes out every sometimes,
And I just fucking kick her,
and then ooh baby, she's O.K. (sugar)
*shit said REALLY fast*
People are always chasing me down,
Trying to push my face to the ground,
Where all they really want to do,
Is suck out my mother fucking brains, my brains (sugar).
that whole speeded bit to me is just fucking great! I once saw system of a down 3 or 4 years ago at either mean fiddler or the astoria in london...and when they played sugar, I just fucking screamed that bit along with everyone else...its just fucking crazy....

its actually that one phrase that got me into system of a down, a friend played it too me something like 6 years ago, and I laughed my ass off, and told him to play that song again. we must of listened to it like 7 times and I was laughing all the fucking time, almost to tears....then when Toxicity came I bought it immediatly, I was the first in our lil group who got it, and I just from that point loved system even more...

Rock on you crazy cunts!
