I know, all of this is such scary stuff, but, unfortunately, most people refuse to pay attention or don't believe it. We'll probably have this idiot as our president for another four years. I just hope Weasel and all the other boys on Almost Smart don't get drafted. That will be the next thing. I'm telling you, I remember Vietnam, and this is another Vietnam. There is no end in sight. They can't keep up their forces with a volunteer army. Oh, well, I keep telling Weasel that we can always afford a one-way ticket to Canada.

It probably would have been a good idea for us, as a nation, to think about that beforehand. But everyone in the US is too nationalistic to have any sense of real opinion.

Re: 100 Facts, 1 Opinion (Bush related)

Taco Bell is giving away a free crunchy beef taco to all 300 million Americans if a player from either team hits their target in Game 3 of the World Series. Maybe we can talk them into giving away a free one-way ticket to Canada to everybody. Canada's going to be awfully crowded! http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/25/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes

I know, all of this is such scary stuff, but, unfortunately, most people refuse to pay attention or don't believe it. We'll probably have this idiot as our president for another four years.
Character insults are dirty, cheap, and 1 step above racism. Don't do them, they make you look bad.

A lie perpetuated by the Kerry campaign, there is no proof Bush wants to reinstate the draft.

You seem quite un-informed. Instituting the draft would require an act of Congress, not an act of Bush. Bush does not have this power, and Congress will never re-instate the draft.

I would like to teply to Holokitty's post, would she like to hit highlights as there are too many to reply to at once?

Re: 100 Facts, 1 Opinion (Bush related)

i like the fact that the title of the article includes "Non-Arguable." unfortunately so many of the statements are not against Bush if you agree that they were necessary. (for example: #1, the war was choice and cost $140 billion. who didn't know this was a choice?) and some could be argued against if you take the time. (for example: #2, troops didn't have body armor or armored humveees. who really thinks this is part of the military budget to issue every soldier with body armor? this is just as bad as the iraqis assuming the soldiers had air-conditioned uniforms to withstand the desert heat and x-ray glasses that could see through the womens clothing.)

from there it goes on. some things the president did are bad, others are good, others are just facts that are neither here nor there. i think the title does more damage because people tire of reading the list and just agree if they already don't like Bush. propoganda is wrong regardless of which side of the fence it falls on or originates from. in all honesty, if you haven't been paying attention to what the president and his administration have been doing for the last four years then chances are you really don't care who gets elected this time.

ignore the campaign propoganda, research the differences between the parties and decide which one to vote for because both Bush and Kerry are front men for their party and will BOTH do what is in the best interest of their respective party. (side note: the republicans like war. a republican in office almost invariably equals war. there was a joke that Reagan gave Bush Sr. a bit of advice when he took office. he told him that if he needed to shift the media attention off of himself then all he needed to do was hit the "troops to somewhere" button.)

You are incorrect in saying that the executive branch of government has no influence about what laws are passed. The president will suggest what the legislative branch should focus on, and they usually listen. The president also has negotiating power by threatening to veto bills unless they are reworked in their favor. Clearly you are the one that is "misunderestimating" the president's power in government.

I didn't say that, I said Bush does not have the power to re-instate the draft and that an act of Congress would be needed.

3rd grade gov, the point is that Congress will not re-instate the draft (It's not a partisan issue; everyone hates the draft) and Bush cannot do it himself, as Madre implied.

No, not really.
