Canadian Monopoly

It’s like the scene from the old five dollar bill,
except there’s three of them.
Three tall loons, gliding across a brown river—
synchronized to the harmony of grasshoppers
and draining streams.

Last year the government stopped putting animals on our bills
(the animals are now printed on coins instead).
And to replace the loon, there are now hockey players.
All this in an attempt to get other countries
to take us more seriously.

Ah, the absurdity of politics.

I will merely say that, musically speaking, a synchronised harmony is about as oxymoronic as... something very oxymoronic. It stuck there like a thorn in my side, couldn't get past it. So, therefore, the following line was rather distant and the image (when i look at it now) is non-existent because of my hesitance.

But a nice image nonetheless (when seen independently).

I'd love to see 'stopped' replaced by some beureaucratic jargon, and the rest of the stanza too. Maybe some inverted comma's to indicate aloofness?

Also: Nothing sexual here.

It's sad mostly because I have a huge poli-sci exam tomorrow and know no bureaucratic jargon.

i'm curious, what sort of theme are you attempting to explore here?

Well not really.
