Oh my - I'm totally into that kind of scenes since my early childhood, when I was staring at such an image that was drawn in a book for ages. I wasn't even able to read back then but the image burned itself deep into my memory.

I love that. :D

Hmmm. That is odd. Maybe it has something to do with the different sort of motion and grip required in holding a brush versus holding a pencil? I don't actually paint, but (having observed my clone painting) it seems a "pencil grip" is only sometimes used; other times, it's a looser grip and less "confined" motion. Still, hard to say for sure. o.O

Thank you. :) It's definitely odd how certain images like that stick with you a lifetime ("well, not yet, sir")--whilst other things refuse to stick at all. Things like, knowing what day it is (which I don't, as a rule). Sometimes, what year it is; that's always awkward.

But yes, glad that it conjured good images/memories and not so much nausea, despite its being rather haphazard. ;)

Re: Assorted Digital Doodlings

I wonder if i could describe a scene of some sort to you if you could drawR it like you do.

If you agree, well, give me time to develop and describe the scene. It could be anything but it is my hope that I will write well enough and descriptively enough to allow you to see the image in your head. (I've been feeling lately that i fail at being descriptive.)

This could be a lil' experiment.

This could be arranged for the both of you. The task falls on me actually getting around to writing the scene.

I don't even know where to begin... most of my writing has been science-fictiony the last few years as are most of my ideas for writing.

I remember when I was trying to think of something the other day how I was getting stuck on describing a simple robot. This isn't a problem from a lack of words so much as I have the tendency to *not* know exactly what my characters and environments (especially science-fiction) look like either because I haven't envisioned them yet or the events take place in a nondescript location (such as space or a dark room or tunnel). There is only so much description that can be done aboard the bridge of a spaceship, in a room illuminated only by the light of a computer monitor, or in the dialogue-heavy start of a story I have that takes place in a dark tunnel.

I'll think of something.

Mmmm, perhaps you could conjure some sort of simple, natural scene to describe. Or maybe describe some sort of architecture--like an ancient ruin, and details of the plant matter surrounding / growing o'er the decay, and such.

Or perhaps a post-apocalyptic cityscape, or countryscape, or small townscape.

Or maybe some sort of (alien / fantastical / science-fiction-y) creature. I think that could prove cool and humourous, especially if you were ampleh detailed in your description.

Just some thourghts, just some thourghts! Maybe to catalyze other thourghts.

And remember, whatever you describe, we (sketch and I) should draw our "illustration" in MS Paint (this being a digital doodling thread). Just to make it extra challenging. ;P

I might have the perfect thing for that although it would need some tweaking. I think I even posted this particular beginning of a story on this site?

It was about chimera. If it is posted here, don't use that one. I'll edit it and be more descriptive for the beasts.

Yes, it IS posted here. It needs revision though so you and Sketch may not want to read the one I just linked.

The descriptions for the characters seems about right but they would require a setting to be in.

Also, it's entirely possible that I'd just write something new and completely different. I just need to actually sit down and write it.

At the time of that post I was downloading upgrades from Ubuntu 10.10 to Ubuntu 11.04. After about a half hour of that, I started the upgrade.

Two hours and fifteen minutes later, the upgrade is complete and I can use my computer again.

But wait! What's this? A whole host of problems from my upgrade that must be solved!

So that's where I am at now.

Re: Assorted Digital Doodlings

I have heard of these ancient instruments.

I do have a problem reading my own handwriting, especially when writing furiously faster than I can comfortably.

I also fear the white screen and background.

And I have a typewriter.... but it is lacking a power cord. :(

(Unfinished) doodling of Audrey Hepburn in MS Paint.

This is what happens when you *start* drinking coffee at 2AM. -_-

Wow.

I painted part of a clock on MS paint and was ridiculously proud of myself for making it look so professional.

....now, not so much.

Ha, thank you. I want to see your drawring. You should post it here. Or send it to me to see. If you wouldn't mind, that is. ;P

I also just edited the last post to add a "close-up" of the most-finished part of the drawing; MS Paint actually has a feature where you can zoom in to draw detail, and it looks something like that. So yes. Most people probably already know that....

Ha. Naaaaaaah. I bet it's awesome. ;D

I made the drawing my avatar. *Shame*

These are other, assorted MS Paint doodlings.

1. My first attempt at an Audrey Hepburn drawing. It's not as accurate, and it kind of vexes me, but there 'tis.
2. Random bag sketch.
3. Random bag sketch 2.
4. Random sketch of stuff on our coffee table.

The last three are older and are only tolerable from "far away." Once you enlarge the images, they are... well, they are.

("Having a life" fail.)
