Intaurine Hormones???

Any science majors and/or experts here have any info on what intrauterine hormones are and what their function is?
In layman's terms of course...

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

I know of taurine regulating hormones, intra urine, and intrauterine hormones... but I had never heard of intaurine hormones and neither have PubMed or the NIH.
Spell check or reference?

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

Thanks, I got it! I mispelled it in the title, because I was just talking to somebody about taurine in energy drinks, which is something different.

Intrauterine influences are traits and that are influenced by various aspects of the environment in the womb, such as hormones, infections, exercise, general health, the ingestion of licit or illicit drugs, etc.

5 Factors that influence the development of any human behavioral pattern:
(1.) Intrauterine (prenatal) effects, such as hormonal milieu (environment)
(2.) Extrauterine (postnatal) physical effects, such as trauma, viruses
(3.) Extrauterine Symbolic effects, such as familial interactions, education
(4.) Extrauterine Experience, such as the reinforcing effect of repetition of behaviors
(5.) Choice

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

^ You only think that, because "choice" is listed as the 5th factor.
Intrauterine and Extrauterine influences both apply to any and all human behaviors.

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

Your list of influences on behavior completely disregards
1. Instinctual responses (heat => pulling hand away immediately) (fight or flight)
2. Post-natal hormonal influences
3. Cyclical behaviors (eating, sleeping, breathing, etc.) wherein the person has some conscious control over when to perform the behavior, but the behavior must be performed.

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

^ Yes, but Im only dealing with social behaviors not ones that have to do with instinctive survival traits.
Post natal hormonal influence I don't believe are instinctual or something we can't alter or change. Post natal hormonal influences may make one more prone to certain behaviors, but doesn't make one a slave or like a robot programmed to only those behaviors.

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

So, when you hit puberty and sex hormones begin running rampant through your body, it was a "choice" to start becoming sexually attracted to (and aroused by) certain people?

EDIT: I don't mean this in a homo/heterosexual way. I'm just trying to point out a post-natal hormonal influence that is definitely not a choice: puberty and the behavioral changes that follow.

Re: Intaurine Hormones???

^ Hormones raging makes it challenging, but Yes, it ultimately comes down to choice when it comes to human social behavior. That time in ones life is probably the most important stage in a person's psychosocial development.
All the more reason to learn how to make meaningful connections with people in non-sexual ways. You can apply this (as you can with all human social behaviors) to the homo/heterosexual behaviors as well.

We're talking about all social behaviors, which include heterosexual and homosexual behaviors.
