Re: Pop vs. Coke?

over here if you ordered a soda, you'd get just that - carbonated water. Otherwise specify the name of the drink you want you retards!

People come into the pub and order "a pint".....of what you idiot? Water?

Speaking of which I'm off to battle cruiser to watch Liverpool get murdered.

Re: Pop vs. Coke?

Wow, how could I miss to post in here.

This thread was about how you call carbonated beverages? Right?

I use to say coke, if I want to get me a ..coke.. not caring what it exactly is, Pepsi or Coca Cola. I just order 'a coke, if I get asked in (fast food-) restaurants; (not to be confused with "I tried to sniff coke but ice cubes got stuck in my nose", though ^_^)

Actually, I call everything coke that is black, got carbon dioxide in it and tastes like sugar. Same goes for the Yellow stuff I use to say just 'Fanta' to, or the way to sweet white beverage named Sprite.

The only coke-alike beverage I ever used the real name for is/was Dr. Pepper (yummi! Wish I would be able to get that here too.).

Soda sound like carbonated water without anything for me, like SpudNuts said.

well yeah - no one would know to what drink you were referring if you just said soda. But soda is the generic name for any carbonated syrup beverage like Coke, Sprite, etc. If you say coke, you mean coca-cola, or cocaine in certain crowds. People do call it pop too, but it's not as common.
