Unfortunately, movie-picking rights have been going to the 16 year old brother.

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

The 2008 one, with Edward Norton? It's too bad the last Hulk movie (just called Hulk) was such a flop - it definitely hurt box office earnings on The Incredible Hulk because fans were (rightly) gunshy.

I watched The Hurt Locker last night. I love war movies, and this one was no exception. It was well made and realistic. Well, I've never been to Iraq, so I can't say how realistic it was. But it had a realistic feel. I'd reccommend it. The problem is finding a venue that's playing it, since it's been labeled indie and most mainstream theaters won't get prints of it.

yeah the newer one. I must say I was rather impressed with it, as i was one of the many who watched the Hulk in the movie theater the first time and either walked out or fell asleep

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

I walked out of the first one.

The 2008 one was pretty good. I'd say it was the worst of the superhero movies released that year, but when you're up against Iron Man and The Dark Knight, that's not saying much.

I'm seeing A Perfect Getaway tonight, I'll let you guys know what I think. It looks BAD. I mean baaad. And the twist can hardly even be considered a twist. But Orphan surprised me, so we'll see.

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

^I agree, but hands down the worst superhero movie of all time (or at least since there has been a big push for superhero movies since 2000) would have to be hands down Fantastic 4. Elektra was pretty bad and so was Catwoman, but F4 one and two were so horrible I actually left one of them and fell asleep in the other.

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

Oh yeah, Fantastic 4 was not so much a superhero film dedicated to portraying the superheroes in movie friendly versions of the beloved comics as it was an attempt to lure lucrative demographics (teens, families) to the box office.

And it worked - let's look at that vs Watchmen, which I think failed in the polar opposite way. Watchmen took in $56M its opening weekend. Fantastic 4 did $65M. Watchmen appeased fans of the graphic novel, but disappointed casual viewers. Fantastic 4 made fans of the comic disgruntled, but left fans with a good taste in their mouth.

Course, as a sidenote: Watchmen's Friday grosses outpaced many films' Friday openings (this is of course because of the Fan Factor. Comic nerds love midnight openings), but floped Saturday and Sunday and decreased by 70% the subsequent weekend.

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

It's like Wolverine Origins. I read Origins when it first came out, I have been an avid fan of Wolverine since I could read a comic, yet I still enjoyed the movie. X3 ruined the X-men experience cause I went in thinking this was going to be very close to the Dark Phoenix Saga and it failed horribly. I went into Wolverine knowing there would be major changes made and although I groaned at many points, I still enjoyed it for what it is. I could NOT do that with F4.

side note, I hear they are making a Magneto Origins. I would like to see that one, and I think they should take the X-men franchise and make it into a really well made series. Kinda like they did with Smallville. That way they can hire lesser known actors who won't bitch about screen time or whatever it is they like to bitch about and still stay very true to the original comics. If only I was a billionaire I would already be on this project!

Star Trek (2009)

I'm now downloading Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan because I would again like to see the Kobayashi Maru scenario.

And I'm downloading Star Trek: First Contact because I would like to see Zefren Cochrane.

And I'm about to watch Watchmen next.

Re: What is the last movie you saw?

I Sell The Dead - not extremely well made (backgrounds are very obviously painted, etc), but really friggin' hilarious.

The Soloist - Despite good performances by the main characters, and the fact that it was a moving film, I would not watch again: it was rather drawn out and repetitive. Great music, though.

Both last night on G4's "Movies that don't Suck".

Both stupid, brainless fun.
