Hey guys! Guess what? I'm going to spam this thread with one my drawings, even though I have half of you on Facebook now. There is a handful of people who haven't seen it, though, so that's how I'm justifying this offense, this shameless, shameless self-promotion. Please forgive me.

I'm still working on this. I just started it yesterday. I'm pretty pleased with it so far.

You know... the thought did cross my mind that he kind of looks like Ben Stiller. But it's actually the actor who plays Stephen Hawking in the movie "The Theory of Everything," which was an amazing, amazing movie... if you like that sort of thing.

pD, The Theory of Everything just came out today on DVD, in fact. So, I have no idea if it's on Netflix, mostly because I don't have Netflix. But you can probably rent it on amazon.com for fairly cheap. Or buy it. It's a pretty amazing movie. I stalked it from its inception, to its theater release, to its DVD release, and am currently stalking the results of the Oscars ceremony. So, I am slightly obsessed with the movie. Slightly.

Jenn, heh, I know. He's relatively new to the acting scene, apparently (or at least new to getting recognition), but he's gotten a lot of attention for his role in the aforementioned movie for his portrayal of the physicist Stephen Hawking. He was nominated for an Academy Award for the role, in fact, probably because his performance was... remarkable. He also played "Marius" in the newer version of Les Miserables. And apparently he was in a movie about Marylin Monroe, aptly named Marylin. So yes. That's who he is. Now you don't have to Google him. ;)

It will, but only because it's an amazing story of perseverance and love. ...Yes, I did cry. And I cried when we watched it again at home. And I will probably cry upon every subsequent viewing. But it is a great story. :)

Also, I updated the drawing, and have been secretly doing so, mainly because it's strangely helpful to view the drawing in a different context. I might have mentioned this, but it is almost impossible to draw with subtlety in MS Paint. It's trickier than it looks, but considering that, I'm fairly pleased with it. Just kinda thinking out loud right now...

How did you pick out a face to draw? Can you draw a face without having seen it?

That's understandable. You kind of have to be in the mood for it (I say, forcing myself to try to be objective). :) I've seen an episode or two of that show; Charlie Day is pretty great.

Most of the time, I base my choices of pictures on whether I think they will be fun to draw (frankly) and whether I think I will be able to draw them (frankly). When I want to draw a specific person, it's usually because they have inspired me in some way or I admire them for the work they've done or I simply find their face interesting and amusing or beautiful. This photo of Eddie Redmayne (that I attached to this post, just so you could see it) fulfilled basically all those qualities.

I know my copy isn't perfect, but it is a fun challenge, especially trying to draw it in Paint, which makes the process a lot more difficult.

Honestly, the only faces I've drawn without a reference are cartoons... usually cartoon animals. <:D That would be interesting to try, though...

Can you draw a face you haven't seen?

You should draw a face for one of the characters in our short stories. You know the stories. Haha I remember the stories, but I can't think of any of the characters! I remember a talking salmon. And a lightling depressed kid, Lol! Omg what's his name? He had that one friend named Soda. And there was a "flatulence." The duke of flatulence or something.

Random fact PD reminded me about faces... Did you know that your mind can't simply create a random face? Have you ever dreamed up random faces in your sleep that you didn't know? Well the "fact" or myth to say the least, is that your mind cannot simply imagine up the face of a person. Even if you dream about being in a crowd of people you don't know, it is said that you have seen all those people before. In the super market, or they served you your double double, or they drove your taxi... At some point you've seen all those people before.
That would be an interesting theory to test.

So people in dreams are strangers you didn't meet in real life, but you did see them in real life at one point.

So you cant dream up a person you've never seen.

Hm that's interesting.
