It's amazing. Circles of Friends. Woot woot.

No longer do we have to be burdened by what you do with your silly gaming buddies if we're your RL friends nor do we need to hear about your RL activities if we only know you through games! HA!

PM me your email address and I'll invite you.

Re: Google+

They need to open this up more, it's kinda dead atm and hard to get people to try it. They're probably aiming for release just before september IMO and if they can learn anything from Facebook its that it'll be the students who decide if this thing kicks off or not and atm FB still has way more tools of procrastination

Dude, there are 10 million users, with an estimated 10 million more by this weekend.

It's in BETA phase, which is the reason for it being invite only. If you remember, even Gmail was once in beta only testing (I got my invite from Weasel, way way back in the day). Soon it'll be open registration. It's really going to blow up.

I also received my Google Music beta invite today (this one requires a beta opt-in and they send you your invite a few days later - members can't invite others yet) and I'm REALLY excited to try that out. Right now it's uploading my music library to the cloud, where I'll then be able to access it from my Android device and any other computer.

Re: Google+

Mudpuppet, I don't know what the bandwidth cap is on your ISP, but keep in mind that uploads are part of that bandwidth.

I read something today about a dude in Seattle who got his access cut off because he was uploading everything to the cloud.

Of course, he said he didn't realize that both download and uploads were counted towards total bandwidth. Herp derp!

My ISP is Comcast - just checked, and there's a 250GB monthly cap. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Google+

Okay, I don't get it.
Everyone is talking about Google+ but what is that all about?

Just another Mybook/Facespace Myface/Spacebook Myspace/Facebook? I never got what's so good about such services - but I maybe just don't want to expose my daily live to everyone in the world.

I just read about something that Microsoft seem to plan: Tulalip - some kind of search engine for informations from all kind of social networks. Do we really need to let everyone know every little detail of us?

*feels old*

That is one of the benefits to Google+. You organize people into Circles and can choose what to share with what groups. For example, let's say that I added Jenn & Tonic to my Google+. I know Jenn first and foremost through Almost Smart so she will be going in that circle with any others from this site. However, Jenn has also come on the Rizon IRC network on occasion so I have included her in that circle as well. Finally, I have known Jenn for awhile now and have spoken to her on the phone on a number of occasions. As such, I have no problem adding her to the Friends Circle. The Friends Circle would be my default circle to share with so I would only allow those in this circle to see my more private or personal posts.

This contrasts compared to Facebook and MySpace which only requires you be a person's friend to see all their photos, wall posts, status updates, other friends, and other personal details.

That's not quite accurate. For instance... I have you added on Facebook. Yet you see a minimal amount of activity from me although I'm on there often. Why? Because I've created several different groups with various privacy settings. This makes it so that I can even add those family members who I don't even want to ever see, yet am obligated to speak to because they happen to be between me and someone I do want to see.

I sent you a message on Facebook since I'm on there more often than here. If you need an invite you don't have to feel obligated to add me to one of your circles... Circles on Google+ works a bit differently than friends on Facebook. It works a bit more similarly to following someone on Twitter, though it's pretty similar to the aforementioned Facebook groups I've created... just not as complex.

Well, see, if I didn't know about that it's because it isn't as easy to use as G+.

Also, it is sad that you wouldn't share stuff with me. :P

I really only log on to FB like once per day.
