i hate pop punk. period. especially lame excuses for a punk band like good charlotte, simple plan, new found glory, the crap they call music, and their fans, they try too hard too look "punk" punk is not a fasion, its not supposed to be a trend, its more of a way of life.

i like some punk. the ramones and the clash and the adicts are way cool, hardcore is awesome heheehehe :)

oh yea i hate pop punk... oh yea another thing i hate is when bands like Rancid who have earned alot of respect and ,from what i hear, decide to go major label after speaking out about major label music for years and staying DIY

i think punk rock was good when it was pure....in the 80's and 90's. they had attitude and more psirit than even the same bands do now with thier pop crap. i think any guy who sings in a way that a girl could sing is a failure.

yah, i'm not big on pop-punk - or ska, for that matter - and me and my friend and me have decided that punk is an attitude not music. the music just was an outlet for the attitude, and people who didn't live thru the 70's aren't punk. even though some people think they are.

Well greenday was punk, but after they started getting real big they started edging towards the pop punk side more and more. oh and to the person that said punk is dead you are totally wrong, punk will never die as long as people listen to it. Even though most of the awesome old bands, like the ramones and the sex pistols arent around anymore, people everywhere still listen to their music and therefore punk is not dead.

i like punk a lot, but some of my favorite groups are the ones that some people get pissed about...i honestly couldnt care what other people classify them as or even what i classify them as. i like punk cause they sing about kinda real issues and anger and stuff. it has a good beat too.

Ah, yes, the Misfits! I like all those bands you mentioned. I like to stick to rock and punk rock, but... when you think about it, there's not much punk rock out there. It's mainly punk rock wannabes(sp?).

SummerSun; which bands?

Monster: Green Day, I'd say in between

Good punk bands; NOFX, Bad Religion, Pennywise. Blink and Sum are good, but maybe a little poppy

Very good older or obscure ones: Circle Jerks, CIV and Angry Samoans

I can't believe no one has mentioned 'Dropkick Murphys'

They are fuckin' awesome!!!!!

For anyone who hasn't heard them, they aren't a pop punk band at all, but their stuff is easily accessible because they meld irish music, like bagpipes and stuff, with old style punk. Their backing vocals and choruses sound just like a drunken sing-a-long at an irish pub.

They are from boston, but are irish-american, and sing about irish stuff.

Any fans of good, anthemic punk/rock music, check them out for sure

I've checked them out earlier and didn't really fall for them for exactly that reason "sing about Irish stuff".

But on a general note I think people should hear the old UK (or UK influenced) classics to truly appreciate the genre, for instance The Exploited, GBH, UK Subs etc.
