okay so i am not cool enough to get into the DC comics and know my specfics, but, my favorite Batman female character (from watching as a kid) is

harley quinn! what a sexy crazy as bitch! i love it!

I would just sit on the beach and read some Golden age Batman graphic novels all the time..though i am not a DC girl, i prefer to run with Marvel and very rarely would my Marvel make it too the beach, too much that can happen to it lol

That is very true; it's sometimes hard to say what makes a given character appealing, or not. Just a matter of preference, I s'pose.

Oddly, Talia al Ghul has been rumored to be in the next film, as well (along with Robin Williams, playing Hugo Strange...); that would be interesting. Talia, I mean. Although, it's hard to say what ultimately would work, and wouldn't. Guess we shalt see. ;)

I wouldn't be completely surprised if Hathaway actually never puts on a Catwoman costume. I may be wrong, but the press releases list her as Selina Kyle, who is Catwoman, yes, but that doesn't mean that she will necessarily wear a skin-tight costume that has cat ears on it.

In her very first appearance, she was a jewel thief known as "The Cat" who did not wear a costume. Given how realistic Nolan tries to be in these movies, I bet he'll avoid the outfit.

Good thought. That would be awesome if that were true--but even if it isn't, and Nolan goes all tawdry on us with that character, the rest should still prove great--and Batman-able. Even Nolan's version of tawdry would be far superior to many Batmans' * past.

Okay, first of all, while his Heath Ledger (*respectful pause*) choice was unusual, two things:
1.) He and the character he was portraying were far less tawdry and NOT (in most instances) simply there for "specific reasons." Let's be honest, neither initially or in her development did the character have as much depth; she was basically there to add sax appeal to the violins.
2.) At least my friends and I had greater faith in Heath as an actor, so the choice did not seem questionable in the sense that it might not work. It was mysterious and interesting--there is little that is mysterious about at least the superficial aspect of this choice. It's an obvious choice.

Again, not that I have *no* faith in Anne Hathaway or the potential of the character--and the idea has become somewhat less repugnant. It's just... tragic. But hopeful.

*Sigh* Sorry to rant again. I guess pretty much only my non-iFriends and I are the only ones who do not approve of this choice. Oh well....
