Star Trek Continues

When one says "fan fiction" one usually doesn't equate it with any semblance of quality, but sometimes the "fans" can surprise you. Such is the case of the brand-new Star Trek Continues. I must say, I was certainly surprised. I've seen a few fan-produced programs based on STTOS but so far - at least as far as the first episode produced - I'm quite impressed with the "feel" of the show. It takes a bit to get past other faces playing familiar roles, but it can be done and I found myself completely immersed in the episode. I'm looking forward to EP2.

On a similar, but unrelated topic, what are your thoughts on the continuation of Star Wars by Disney, Able?

The very thought of a Disney/JJ Abrams Star Wars product makes me want to run screaming into the night. I've already seen how copiously JJ shat on the Star Trek franchise; I can only imagine the kind of shitstorm he's going to turn SW into.

From what I hear, Lucus had already planned the movies but decided not to make them. So it might not be so bad, depending on how much work he did on them....

No disney shut down Lucas films and told him to cancel any new star wars projects. Effectively the Star Wars franchise was killed by Mickey Mouse
