i was glad to see that no had written a thread on this movie. i wanted to be the first after seeing this movie opening night. IT WAS BY FAR THE SINGLE WORST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IN A THEATER IN RECENT MEMORY!
if you had the story in history class in sixth grade and you have seen any war movie, you have absolutely nothing new to see in this movie. the war first war scene takes up the most time and instead of spreading movie making prowess that oliver stone has shown in the past, he pulls away and in fact mars the action by adding airborn sand so you can't see any of the action. the battles after that are shortened and show a lack of effort. the acting? colin ferrell's is forced and he comes off fake. plus since when does the real alexander of macedonia (essentially greece) have an irish accent? yes it does bleed through. not emmencely but enough to ruin his performance. the only good acting in this movie came from val kilmer and angelina jolie. unfortunately they are in the movie for a total of like 5 minutes each and oliver stone has taken it upon himself to spread their five minutes out along this 3 hour massacre of a movie. the only really good part of this movie is abour 2 and 1/2 hours into the movie. the scene in the preview with the elephant. he gets knocked off the horse and everything changes to a red color. this is the movies only good part. oliver stone must have known this, which is why it is so blatantly about homosexuality. oliver stone knew this was an aweful movie so he must have figured "why don't i make him a homosexual and maybe that can draw a good crowd, cause i know nothing else in this movie will!"
now i could have cared less if there was homosexuality in the movie or not but he made it the focus of the movie. a direct and obvious cry for attention from the gay community and if you have to do that i think the movie is a waste of my time, your time, oliver stone's time, and the studios $150+ million to make.

for that one red scene i will give it 1 star out of 10.
this movie is the kind of movie you only see if you have a dumb friend who buys it and you can borrow it for free. not worth the $4.10 for the rental!!

Yeah, it was pretty bad... I tried to convince my friends to go see The Incredibles instead, but noooooooooo. I don't even care that much about the money spent on the ticket, I just wish I could get those 3 hours of my life back.

It was seriously a BAD MOVIE. History buffs would cry. Well, anyone would cry from boredom. They all had different accents... wth? You are told what you should have watched and watch what you should have been told. I hate how they killed the elaphants and horses in the battle scene. Bah bah bah!

How does he really even die? Who killed him?

in actuality when the chariots of the persians came for the macedonians they did in fact just kill the horses. killing elephants? i would have to look it up but if they would kill the horses of chariots in previous battle it makes sense for them to kill the elephants.

alexander died from illness. no one killed him.

he did die from illness in the movie... it was just rotten water it mustve been like e-coli or something, i couldnt figure it out.

the battle scenes were good, minus the incest and homosexual kissing... it fucking sucked.

Horrible movie i dont suggest anyone takes the time or the money to go see it. about 30 minutes in a large amount of the theater simple walked out and i was tempted to follow it but im stubborn and wanted to give the movie a chance, by the time i realized it wasnt worth it only 30 minutes remained and me and my buds didnt wanna go home so early so we waited and the movie never got better. Im open minded about everything but this movie wasnt worth it, it should be deleted, not cause its sexuality but because of the poor storyline and the blatant attempt at a documentory.

it wasn't bad water. i hate to say it. but go watch it again. look at how everyone around him are looking at him funny before he drinks. they poisoned him. this is oliver stone's little twist and distortion on history. "he was poisoned, not sick." this is why anthony hopkins at the end says to his scribe to start over. this is his twist at the end of the movie. anyone think it was worth 3hours let alone the 15 years he's been wanting to make this steaming pile of feces.

the movie sucked plain and simple.

watching my friend try to open her ju jubes was more amusing than paying attention to the movie, also after this movie we hopped to every other theater, i have a faint idea of how shitty seed of chucky is, the grudge, and alexander was most definately the biggest upset of them all.
