Re: America....Part 2
just to clarify, i don't hate americans. i hate the american attitude. the attitude that their country is superior (superior enough to be referred to using the name of the entire western hemishpere) and the rest of the world is just a big target, made up of poor and starving unimportant wretches. there is an incredible amount of arrogance and ignorance. not that americans are incapable of learning, they're just taught that it's not important, so they appear stupid when they go to banff and ask "Where does Alberta end and Canada begin?". most american's aren't at that jaw-dropping level of ignorance, it's mostly the richh who are like that. even though the rich have the cash to learn whatever they want, they just don't feel it's important. the U.S. was built out of a war and has had a lot of wars since then, and their society is built around hero worship. that's part of why their military men do stupid things, like fire artillery at their own tanks, fly their planes into each other, or shoot rockets at canadian troops doing training. bleed black here is an example of the stereotypical american. someone no decent person would like. thankfully, few americans are like that, but "those who have nothing to say are always the loudest". americans also seem quick to anger, but it's not their fault, they live under a rule of fear. one where everybody has a killing machine. whatch bowling for columbine, and you'll know what i'm talking about.
i'm going to get a lot of hateful responses for this, but remember, i'm trying to put the blame on the american way, not the american people. |

Re: America....Part 2
Wait are you saying im somebody that no decent person would like? ive seen bowling for columbine, and its not anti american. rather it pro-gun control. neomp, you are refering to the streotypical american, ofwhich there are few(like you said). I have never heard of the military events you have listed. the information you recieve shows exactly what america isnt. we dont live under a rule of fear, if i had the time i could explain to you why the government could not take away our freedom, something very important to our founding fathers. you also make it seem that no country has had as many wars as we have, which is also wrong.Everbody does not own a gun here, but some do. its our constitutional right. we dont see the world like that. actually most of us live in ignorance, we dont really get a taste of the world out side of the US, but like a wise man once said "ignorance is bliss.."
i dont hate you neomp, i know it seems that way. im just sick and freaking tire of people tleling me that bush is a horrible president. hes done so much good, but since we have a liberal media only the bad is promoted. the same goes for canada, i dont hate canada, i just dont think it should be equivalated to the US becuase they are on two different scales completely. |

Re: America....Part 2
American people are blind. Well not excalty blind, but like the horses that are on the streets of NYC. They have lil patch things over their eyes so they only see what it presented to them. The media has a lot of influence on the people here. Just look at Dean... He screamed while rallying some supporters and it got aired 600+ times in 4 days. His numbers declined and he's gone.
Bowling for Columbine had a lot of good points. They gave stats but not the whole truth of the stats. For example: Michael Moore's stats: Germany, 381 gun murders. France, 255 gun murders. Canada, 165 gun murders. UK, 68 gun murders. Australia, 65 gun murders. Japan, 39 gun murders. U.S., 11,127 gun murders. CIA World Factbook 2002 population stats: Germany, 83,251,851 France, 59,765,983 Canada, 31,902,268 U.K., 59,778,002 Australia, 19,546,792 Japan, 126,974,628 U.S., 280,562,489 A citizen of the U.S. is: -- 8.7 times as likely as a citizen of Germany; -- 9.3 times as likely as a citizen of France; -- 7.7 times as likely as a citizen of Canada; -- 35 times as likely as a citizen of the U.K.; -- 11.9 times as likely as a citizen of Australia; -- 129 times as likely as a citizen of Japan to be murdered by a gun. (http://arizona.indymedia.org/news/20...89_comment.php ) Percent of people killed in USA and Canada by guns... USA .00396% Canada .00193% Yes, USA does have more killing by guns but percents give the real stats. Yes, I am American but I know our faults. |

Re: America....Part 2
As Rock_ur_socks mentioned, Bowling for Columbine expossed some very, very disturbing stats..., I don't remember the exact number, but Canada citizens had like 7 times more guns (per capita) than US citizens..and even then, the murder rate in Canada is much lower than here in the US..
One of the reasons why the murder rate is so low in other 1st world countries is becuase of the licenses and permits you need to obtain to be able to get a gun. Psych evaluations, weeks of waiting time (background checks), etc, etc... |

Re: America....Part 2
The reason that gun murders are so high in America is due to lax gun control laws. An unarmed populace in which the criminals have easy access to guns makes for lots of gun crimes. Extremely tight gun control laws, like they have in Europe, would reduce gun murders because there would be fewer guns availiable to criminals. If there were no gun control laws, then ordinary citizens would be able to defend themselves. However, in America, our gun control laws do nothing but disarm innocents, making them more vulnerable to criminals.

Re: America....Part 2
I would just like to say that though Americans DO have that attitude, not ALL of them do. Don't stereotype us. I don't believe we're any better than anyone else, and I can see our flaws, as can most americans. People here are no more ignorant than elsewhere. Neomp, it's pretty ignorant to say that all rich people, or all people are 'like that.' It's pretty ignorant to not be able to concede to people's points, and not WANT to concede your points when they've been proven wrong.
And also, the US was NOT built out of war. The US declared their independence, and Britain went to war to try and claim the US back. I saw up there that neomp is banned but i thought i'd clear that up anyway.

Scourge, any reasons why? Oh and nice signature...not. I know there are some Christians out to convert the world, but i feel it's the other person's responsibility, not mine. there are a lot lke me. So could you please take that out of your signature...its descrimination, which is against the rules.

Re: America....Part 2
Well, you were banned but i suppose it was a temporary thing.
What did you mean 'all we did was ask nicely.' Are you referring to Canada, or to the US? If you're referring to the US, they did not 'ask nicely.' In the declaration of independence, all of the king's wrongdoings toward America was cited, and they well, declared our independence. There was no 'asking' about it.

Re: America....Part 2
After the American war for independence, the British realized that they couldn't hold onto their colonies in North America, and knew that a war against Canada would be ultimately futile.
