Thats my pup Naomi. She doesnt keep still often, and i dont have many pictures of her, more puppy pictures than anything. Shes a corgi, like from Cowboy Bebop.

So, I just adopted my first pet, ever.

Meet Hermione (six weeks old, about two pounds):

She was found by my boss's daughter in an alley last Friday, all alone and meowing. She had cigarette burns on her.

I just can't imagine someone treating any animal like that...but a kitten? Ugh.

I think she was feral, not sure. But, she's adjusting well, in fact, she looooves people and is very, very social. Took her to the vet Tuesday, and treating her for worms. She's going to get her vaccinations next week.

We think she's about six weeks old. Not positive about that, but I think that's a good estimate.

Aw just a baby. She's so sweet!

I can't believe people would treat any animal like that, let alone a kitten. People really suck sometimes. :(

She is BEAUTIFUL. Congratulations!! And she's a big girl for six weeks, wow (we usually estimate 2 pounds = 8 weeks).

It's really disturbing what some people do to animals. Even "good owners" can let things get terrible. HORRIBLE DISGUSTINGNESS WARNING WARNING I can't tell you how many big, fluffy, pampered dogs come in for "smelling bad down there" and their whole perianal area is covered in maggots. Ugh.

It's great that she's social! Even if she (or her mom) were feral, 6-8 weeks is early enough for great socialization.

Styx, a geriatric Chinese water dragon (crappy phone pic doesn't do his colors justice)

Vincent, a red-eyed tree frog

Karma, a veiled chameleon

I hope so. I keep thinking I'm doing everything wrong...having a pet (she's my very first EVER) is hard. But oh, she's so damn sweet.

I'm just scared all the time that I'm not the right owner for her, that I don't have the patience...I just worry. A lot.

Here is her tonight. I had to work from home all day (big work thing is going live tomorrow) and since my laptop was warm, she wanted to join the party. :)

Just lover her and pay attention. You'll know her better than she knows herself, and you will be able to tell if anything ever goes wrong. She's lucky to have someone as involved as you are!!

I adopted Styx in January of 2012 after my dear Oz (another rescue) passed away from old age. Styx was at a rescue that was having trouble placing him because of his age. He is between 10-12 years old and CWDs usually live around 10 years, but up to 15. He is definitely a grumpy old man, and has his share of health concerns, but I love him dearly.

So, it's been awhile since I posted. It became pretty clear that Hermione was very lonely during the day and needed another cat around. In July, a friend of mine was looking to adopt because she'd just lost a cat, and her other cat, Luna, was not doing well without another one in the home. I gave Hermione to my friend, and Luna and Hermione are SO happy. I was sad to give her away but knew I wasn't the right owner for her and that she is SO much happier now.

I wanted to try again, this time with an adult cat, but waited awhile. In December, a friend of mine and I went to the Humane Society and I fell in love with Byron (formerly BG. That name had to GO), a 3 and a half year old domestic shorthair. He's social and friendly (especially with the ladies--not so much with men, their voices scare him) but he doesn't mind being alone. My friends all say he's just like me. I'm so happy to have him! Some of you who are friends with me on facebook have seen these but I'm posting these pics regardless:
