This is the first I've seen or even heard of artistic elephants.

Re: oh so cool

This is what elephants paint when they aren't directed and are free with a brush and a bucket.

I wonder how they got them to paint the same thing every time, much less a painting with meaning to humans but not much to elephants...

Isn't it also interesting that humans sometimes deliberately paint like elephants without direction?

Yes, absolutely: painting in abstract forms that do not represent real places, things or events... it's wonderful.

I was referring more to my perception of force and/or abuse to get the elephants to paint elephants. Personally, I like the free-form elephant paintings better.

Where did you get the idea those elephants were forced or abused? In the video they're all over with several people walking around freely. Doesn't appear to be an unsafe or abusive circumstance at all, unlike circus gimmicks. Not everything an animal is trained by a human to do requires abuse or force.

I agree it's unlikely that elephants would ever have painted anything like that picture without human guidance. However, the fact that they're capable of doing that is amazing in itself. I knew they were deft, but never would have thought an elephant trunk has that type of dexterity.

Sorry guys, but he's slightly right. Rude, but right. This same video was posted several years ago. (Don't hurt me!)

Who cares if something gets re-posted? Who really cares? In fact, I personally think it's better to re-post it rather than to resurrect a several years' old thread.

"The mods of this forum suck." Tell me, lately, what is there to moderate? (With how dead-slow the forum has been.) Who is there to moderate? (Most of the people who still come here and actually post are moderators!) First of all.

Secondly, why are you complaining? Post something better, then--post something worth reading, like what you did in the "quotes" thread, instead of coming here with haphazard posts and slipshod criticism--if you desire such quality, emit it. (Again, I personally am not bothered by the re-posting and the conversational posts which have become more common here [since the regular posters are so few], but if you are bothered and can be bothered, then post something "quality.")

Thirdly, more to the point (and, wow, this must be the first time this was said): Everyone beeped and moaned when things were so "tyrannically" moderated, and now that there is little to no interference with the sparse posters of the forum (other than keeping the forums clean from the near' constant spammers), the beeping and moaning continues. Is there a way to win? What do you want? What is the magical level of virtual perfection you expect? WHAT?!?!?!?!!?!

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WATCH ELEPHANTS PAINT--AGAIN--THEN DON'T! JUST DON'T!! OKAY?!?!?

*Sigh* Anyway, that was fun. Please, carry on.

Wowwee! I did not expect that to come from ZP!

In fact, I didn't really expect any repercussions from my crude statement. I assumed that I wouldn't be taken seriously in the first place. It wasn't meant to be serious. I don't really think the mods of this forum suck. In fact, I have it on good authority that the moderators of this forum are actually really decent people!

Besides, they can hardly be the one to blame when it is an administrator that is lacking...

Oh...*cough*...really? I, uh...I knew that. I was just playing along. Gotta keep the joke going, right?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeey.

Sorry for unleashing that satirical tirade on you.

But I have to say--it would be nice if something could be done about the "bot" population of AS. There is pretty much a new spammer / fake account created every day. Not that it's that big of deal or hard to fix; I just don't remember there always being like 6 banned bots online at any given time in the past; maybe I'm wrong. *Contemplative squint*

No apologies. I knew it was all a big gag.

Anyway, something could be done about the bot problem if there was an administrator of the forum. I wouldn't know how to do it right away (not with vBulletin) but for the forums I am an administrator of for eRepublik parties and such I have had great success. Most spambots don't stand a chance. We might get one ever two weeks.
