Old news but... oh so relevant.

J Abnorm Psychol. 1996 Aug;105(3):440-5.
Is homophobia associated with homosexual arousal?
Adams HE, Wright LW Jr, Lohr BA.

Department of Psychology, University of Georgia, Athens 30602-3013, USA.

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

PMID: 8772014 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

Perhaps people whose entire lives are focused on homophobia have something they need to confront.

Re: Old news but... oh so relevant.

^ So this thread almost immediately being posted minutes after our debate in the "Bigot" thread tells a story...and that is NOT that people who disagree and bother to speak up against the homosexual lifestyle are "in the closet" themselves. This is a shame tactic that was spelled out by the gay activists (one who has a PHD in Neuropsychiatry and the other a PHD in Social Marketing & Advertising) in "After the Ball," a book which essentially is the leaders of the gay activists' 'bible' that outlines their strategies that involve mostly shame and propaganda tactics that they use to push their agenda.

Here is the tactic Foxy just used above that's spelled out in After The Ball on page 226...

"Discourage anti-gay harassment by linking and calling all those that have opposing opinions to latent homosexuality"
(i.e., call people homophobic and link it to claims of repressed homosexuality)

Even though Foxy is not aware of this book, she is a product of indoctrination as a result of the tactics in this book. If you read Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto and Saul Alinsky's infamous Rules For Radicals books, you will see that the ideas and tactics in After the Ball are similar.

This particular book was published in 1989...homosexuals and lesbians went from just a group of people who for the most part just wanted to be left alone before, but not too long after that book was published, is when gay activism took it's turn into this overly-aggressive and vehement academia infiltrate to indoctrinate juggernaut we see today.

The "homophobe = closet homosexual" claim is one of their oldest framing shame tactics in the book. It's extremely hypocritical to attempt to insult someone in this fashion...Some may think that insinuating that someone has "latent homosexual tendencies" is on par with calling someone a "fag." Most people (both religious and non-religious) advocate kindness towards homosexuals, despite the fact that they disagree with homosexuality in principle.

As far as this study goes, it proves nothing. There are many women who have watched lesbian porn and been aroused by it, but still don't agree with homosexuality, or wouldn't act it out themselves. The problem is that propaganda has made people buy into the falsity that sexual orientation is an identity, when that is not and never will be conclusively proven. They will never conclusively prove that there is a genetic code to any human social behaviors. And if they do and use it to justify themselves, they are shooting themselves in the foot. Many biochemists have already admitted that if a "gay gene" is found, they will then create something to inject into the fetus that will block the "gay gene" from developing or kill it in womb if the parent chooses to do so. Then we will have another chaotic polarizing issue to deal with, that is even more complex, because then the homosexual issue will be intertwined with the abortion issue.
(I take my emotions out of it, so I can have a better chance with hindsight).

Arousal can be induced by anxiety alone, and therefore has nothing to do with latency.
Even if tendencies are proven, does that equate to our identity? No. it does not.
And if latency was proven, then 100% of these "homophobe" samples would have to show arousal, when 20% didn't show any.
This proves more than anything that arousal is anxiety induced rather than orientation induced.

Again, this comes down to framing...the term 'homophobia' is often being used inaccurately to describe any person who objects to homosexual behavior on either moral, psychological, or medical grounds. Technically the terms actually denotes a person who has a phobia — or irrational fear — of homosexuality. Principled disagreement, therefore, cannot be labeled 'homophobia.'

Not to mention the reliability of the device used in this study has been highly contended by most professionals...

http://www.skepdic.com/penilep.html

The terms ''homophobia'' and ''homophobic'' have been tactically used by gay activists and their sympathizers to blur the difference between those who actively fear and loathe homosexuals and those who merely disapprove of homosexuality. The re-framing of the meaning and the blurring is deliberate, done in order to shame the latter into abandoning their disapproval. It's not going to work on me.

When we really open our eyes, sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction.
Again, I am definitely not against anybody...
I'm just not on the emotional side of the argument, and that includes "science" and it's original intent that is also on the emotional side.

People spit this little tactic off as if they were programmed like robots too.
I guess by their logic (or I should say illogic) everybody who's pro-life secretly has an urge to kill babies.

Nobody is really afraid of homos. California, on the other hand, definitely doesn't like them.

^ I'm assuming that most people in Cali aren't "afraid" of the homosexuals and lesbians.
It's the militant radical activist movement and all their tactics that they use, that rubs the average person the wrong way.

I said, Nobody is afraid of them. California, according to Y on 8, doesn't like them. And it's intolerant to say California is being intolerant toward gay marriage. It's our own right to say how we feel. If the gays dont like it, they should leave or stay in CA and not be "married."
oh but it's finally got to CA. The rightful intolerance of CA cannot be tolerated. And now it's the gays forcing CA to change our minds, so they can get married in a state that freaking does not like them. Wow. Talk about intolerance....More like sore-losers. You gays had your vote and you lost.

The audio is not the best in this clip, but the guy (Jack Hunter) who speaks on that issue in this clip makes the most rational sense I've ever heard about this issue...
