That's a good song. Carlos Santana is a very spiritual and soulful, and a great guy too. He was on of a few artists that took the time to chat with me and my co-workers backstage. I worked for a catering company in the early 90's who would cater for the bands that would come to Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center. The rule was that we could NOT approach the artist or speak to them unless they approached us first. Sade was also really cool. Sting pretty much made it like we didn't even exist.

Yeah, I love Carlos Santana. You're lucky to have met him, haha. And I didn't think Sting would be that kind of guy....

Re: what song are you listening to right now?

RUSH - "Xanadu"

This could be "just another Rush song" but the lyrics are rather incredible. I like the way the exact same melody used in the first part of the song when the "character" seeks Xanadu and holds the fervor of discovery is again used in the second part and holds the desperation and fervent desire to escape that which he worked so hard to find:

Quote:
Rush, "Xanadu"

"To seek the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
To break my fast on honey dew
And drink the milk of paradise...."

I had heard the whispered tales
Of immortality
The deepest mystery
From an ancient book. I took a clue
I scaled the frozen mountain tops
Of eastern lands unknown
Time and Man alone
Searching for the lost--Xanadu
Xanadu--To stand within the Pleasure Dome

Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste anew the fruits of life
The last immortal man
To find the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
Oh, I will dine on honeydew
And drink the milk of Paradise

A thousand years have come and gone
But Time has passed me by
Stars stopped in the sky
Frozen in the everlasting view
Waiting for the world to end
Weary of the night
Praying for the light
Prison of the lost--Xanadu
Xanadu--held within the Pleasure Dome

Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste my bitter triumph
As a mad immortal man
Nevermore shall I return
Escape these caves of ice
For I have dined on honeydew
And drink the milk of Paradise
Usually, I couldn't care less for the lyrics of a song...I'm no singer-never have been- and I just hear a vocalist as another instrument in a song but Niel Peart's work is particularly powerful and lends a great deal more meaning to the music over and above being mere "ear candy".
