Corvettes suck. However, i guess if i absolutely HAD to have an american car, id prefer a corvette over anything else.

Theyre not all that cool if a 4 cylinder jap car can beat one

I would really like to see an unmodified, normally aspirated 4banger take on a vette. But i can keep waiting because that would never happen.
If some nitrous civic wants to take on a vette... its only fair that the vette be modded too.

On a seperate note... one of my uncles sucessfully put a corvette drivetrain and engine in an old z. Hehehe... dangerously overpowerful

when it comes to that issue, go by power to weight ratio. and also liter to power ratio.

A Nissan Maxima SE with a large turbo (ill look into brand and such) beat a vette with about the same mods, minus the intake. Its totally reasonable.

show me and ill believe it.

Ok, I feel like arguing.
If you would have said something feasible… like comparing a skyline, rx7, 300zx or even a supra. I would have respected that as a valid statement. But a MAXIMA? Jeez I though you knew a little bit more about cars than that,
First off a maxima is a v6 and should not be mentioned based on your 4 cylinder statement. But whatever.
I did some research and tried and tried to find some site that had a the maxima win… all I found was a dubious video(that didn’t work) that clamed a hugely supercharged, gutted, and tuned maxima se beat a stock 4th generation automatic corvette. Big deal, my car can beat a STOCK AUTOMATIC vette if I modded it enough.

Ok now for track times.(these are all official races websites with real race drivers… not some wannabe fast and the furious kid)

All cars stock
DRAG
Chevrolet CORVETTE ZR-1 SSGT1 0:13.145
NISSAN MAXIMA MidPri Sed 0:15.744
The time difference is quite huge considering the short distance. However, the maxima’s time is really respectable for a sedan.
AUTOCROSS
94 Chevy Corvette 35.889 35.022 35.102 34.403 34.603
99 Nissan Maxima 40.765 41.003(1) 38.110 40.521(1) 38.372

now for car specs.

VETTE Z06
Type V-8, normally aspirated
Displacement 5.7 liters (346 cu in)
Valvetrain OHV 2-valve
Compression Ratio 10.5:1
Bore & Stroke 99.0 mm x 92.0 mm
Horsepower 385 bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque 385 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm
Redline 6500 rpm
Fuel Injection Electronic sequential port
PERFORMANCE
0-60 MPH 4.6 sec
1/4 Mile 13.0 sec @ 110.5 mph
Top Speed 171 mph
Mileage (city/highway) 19 / 28 mpg
Power-to-Weight Ratio 8.1 lb per bhp

MAXIMA SE
Normally aspirated V6
Displacement 3.5L/- TBD -
Fuel System SMPI
SAE Net Horsepower 255 @ 5800
SAE Net Torque (lb ft) 246 @ 4400
Power to weight 16.3

I couldn’t find anything else on the maxima … the power to weight ratio is really good on it though.
But then again… a Hyundai scoupe has a 19.5 ratio while a McLaren f1 has a 4.1 ratio. Which one is faster there? The hp and torque differences in the cars are too much.
Plus you would gain much more out of a turbo boost on a corvettes 8c engine then on the maximas 6c engine. The bottom line is it blows the car away stock, and it would pound it if they both were tuned. And anyways, I can see wanting to mod your car a little, but why spend an extra 20 grand modding the crap out of a car when you can buy a real sports car to begin with.

But.. I found many stories about maximas that tried to race vettes and got blown away.
I love my imports… but that statement you just made is just…. Eh. Ill let the specs and times speak for themselves.

EDIT: awww crap.. i forgot to put my sources... oh well. There really is no arguement here anyways

Corvettes cost around $55,000 for the Z06, the better model.
(345hp at the wheels)
You can buy a Honda S2000 for $32,000, and spend an extra 4 grand for a super charger, and about 1 grand for headers, exhaust, and intake, and you will have more horsepower (With the supercharger , and other modifications, has 355hp) at the wheels. And you have roughly $18,000 leftr over. Fuck you could buy another car, (a crap civic,) drop a new engine in it, and have 2 cars that could beat the vette aat the exact same price!

Vettes suck.

Ok now you are starting to make more sense. I would rather have an s2000 over a vette.
but you are still talking out of your ass when it comes to cars. Have you ever tried to swap an engine out on a civic? I was setting up an gsr swap on my civic untill i realized it wasnt a race car... 5000 for the engine alone. you also need a new computer, certain tranny replacements, and other junk. A lot of money. And id only have 170 hp at the dyno with it. Not to mention labor costs if ididnt do it myself(add another grand).
Corrections to your prices
Vette z06 2003 = 51,000
Its also a little more than 1000 for the stuff you mentioned if you wanna buy good stuff. Good headers for an s2000 cost about 1000 alone. 4000 for a super charger is about right (you are only gonna get 100 more out of it. A comptech supercharger only puts on 80hp). Its gonna be another 500-1000 for a GOOD exaust system. Intakes are pretty cheap at 200-400.
The whole modded s2000 is still under 40000 though.

But at least your arguement is getting better and not the retarded one that says a regular 4c car can beat a vette.
Very good job! You changed it to something valid
I would rather have an import SPORTS car over a vette anyday.
But they dont suck.

Oh and tyrantjodo:
When you are old enough to drive and actually have a car, come back with an opinion that means something. Until then, go back and watch fast and the furious a few more times. There is a saying in racing - if you havnt been on the scene before ff, you are a poser.

heres what i found...
if you pay 5000 for a gsr engine your getting screwed 5000 is for a TYPE R engine. a gsr engine will run you 4500 AND IT INCLUDES EVERYTHING engine tranny ecu. ONLY 170 think of the weight distrubition ONLY 170 will rocket that fucking car and you couldn't handle the power of the engine. 1000 for good headers for an s2k?? maybe if you want to get mugen a header that is 975 you can get comtech, dc sports both for under 500. and u r WRONG the comtech supercharger and the vortech are dyno proven 100hp gain at the WHEELS you wont get just 80 . go to the website and look at the dyno figures.

Dyno Graph for Supercharger (http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/yourcar/00-02s2000.html)
BAM!
