I've never been to Georgia Tech, but I've been through a number of areas of Georgia including Atlanta.
1) It's HUGE (duh) so if you're going alone, I'd rent a bike or something. Also, call college admin/info and find out about staying somewhere close to the college. Might get nowhere, but it can't hurt to call and see :.) Can also let them know you've been accepted and ask to meet with someone knowledgeable re: the courses you're interested in. In that case, you'll want to have a list of questions, mental or written however it works for you :.)
2) Lots of clay ... driving in the snow/ice should be a fair idea of what driving in clay is like, only clay doesn't melt from tire treads and once it dries you can hang it up 'til it feels like coming out on its own (unless you wanna pick it out with a knife or something) ... before it dries it doesn't matter what kind of surface you're driving on - you might as well be driving with racing tires
3) Try not to let the accent affect how/what you think of the staff *grin*
4) Don't pick up the accent!
5) Weather is much nicer than some areas, but it's not as warm as the bahamas even if the humidity stays about the same :.)
6) Southern mosquitos and chiggers should be respected :.) ... especially chiggers since you can't see them and they're everywhere
7) Check out the swamps if you get a chance via a tour - they're amazing! Just don't mess with the spanish moss or sit on anything near a tree or bushy areas (chigger turf)
8) Last and unfortunate ... racism still thrives there but it can be dealt with :.)
