ok so i see that there are about nine or ten people on at the moment... and i'd love to chat with half of you, and scream at the other half (just for the hell of it, mind you)

why the CRAP don't we get together on a private chatroom on AiM named 'almostsmarter" or something...?

any ideas as to chatroom banter/flaming/antics?

to clear up any confusion:

whales was posting innapropreate pictures of whale anatomy, and the way he 'customized' his pictures made it clear he wasn't trying to be scientific.

on top of that, none of his posts included any original thought... it was just cut n' paste with a strange or nasty whale picture included. This is spam. Thus, he was banned.

10 minutes later, 'thor' logged on and started defending whales... with the same IP address... thus he was also banned.

john and i were in AiM, but we might just have to go for the Yahoo gig, since it sounds like most people have it, as opposed to AiM.

and yes, you can IP ban someone... but i didn't realize it was the same ip/person till 'bleed' pointed it out. Besides... its said and done.

if he wants to come back a third time, i'll go ahead and get 'dirty' with the ip bannage.

I'm sure it was discussed before. how about a java/ajax web client for IRC. or those who have mIRC use that.

its easy to set up a channel. plus the server almostsmart is on can host the channelbot or something. so that channel is always registered to us and automatically changes permissions to what rank we are on the site.

not all of us use Aim, and i dont think i would.
im strictly MSN and its only just alowed us to chat with Y! messenger users (however, even that doesn't seem to be working perfectly)

if eric would enable the CHAT within VB (i run same vb board on werkkrew and it has an intergrated chat with it) we could all use that instead of these stupid messenger programs like aim

but yeh, we usely get together on yim and scream words at each other regulary

the problem of running a chat on VB is the bandwidth.
running any chat on the AS server will cost bandwidth. IRC is at least stable and has many years behind it where it has been optimised over and over.
