*Lady Macbeth*

We've been positioned in this darkened room for over three hours.
I catch Ruth's eye, and she gestures questioningly at her iPod;
I shake my head; she shrugs and wilts back onto her black pillows.
Twenty-three minutes later; Joshua squeals "Die, you bastards!"
His seven-year old eyes are trapped under one-year old glasses-
We observe the reflection of the monsters emitting from his Gameboy;
Ruth rolls her eyes [and her thumb against the iPod]; I mutely nod and
elevate the right side of my mouth in a vain attempt at smiling.
Suddenly, Ruthie jumps up and begins to flail her limbs to a rhythm.
For the first time; David and I splutter with laughter, but he then frowns
As my phone issues two sharp beeps that induce me to it instantaneously.
David's smooth [pale] features are made neon from the light of his laptop;
He hits the keys impatiently as he struggles to bond with the wireless network.
Joshua and Ruth swear together [her battery expires; and his creature loses],
And David shuts down his laptop with a sigh that falls into chorus with mine-
I've used up all my credit; they know I won't get more until next week.
Ruth scuttles into David's room and brings in his old Monopoly board-
I pick the silver hat for my token; and wait for everyone to select theirs.
The pretty silver car lies, solitary in the box, as we begin our game.
