The Aphex Face.
I seen this on another forum i visit. Some guy was bored and remembered this stuff from one of the Aphex Twin albums "Window Licker"
Here's the site he found: http://www.bastwood.com/aphex.php
Some people are saying its demon faces. others say its the guys face.
It think its bloody awesome to do that on a audio track and makes me wonder if its been done with any other songs.
love the one at the end: "Songs about my Cats"

Wow thats too cool. I have a spectral analysis function in Cool Edit Pro where I can display colored patterns based on audio but I've never seen anything specific..surely not like the face or the cat. Now you have me wondering if I could start with an image and work backwards-turning it into sounds?
Rep either way. That page you posted has a bunch of links I'm going to investigate.
Wow..
Tried it with the track titletrack "Windowlicker" and obtained the spirals he talks about at the end of the track.
ablethevoice: On that site, the guy likes to a program called The vOICe (http://www.seeingwithsound.com/winvoice.htm) (interesting similarity to you username!) which I remember playing with a few years ago. Basically you can put a webcam through it and it will make sounds that supposedly correlate to the image. You might be able to do it with saved images also.

Thanks Avid; I'll look into that for sure. I already found and DLed the one called Coagula and holy SHIT- I drew some random shit on the screen and "played" it...LOL All 3 of my cats sprang up and made tracks towards the nearest door (I admit I had the spkrs turned up somewhat loud- and let me add here that my PC is not connected to a pair of wimpy desktop speakers but instead to a Kenwood 165 watt per channel beast with a 14 inch subwoofer). This one (Coagula) is definately going to find some uses in my recordings once I figure out what the hell it's doing! But wow... being able to "play" a live webcam image... whew... can't wait. Going to check this one out right now!
EDIT: I've been playing with that COAGULA a lot today and having a lot of fun with it-so much in fact that I'm going to do something I've never done before... donate points! And grunt is the lucky recipient!
Oh, and that "playing a cam image"...once I had seen it, I suddenly recalled a CNN Technology Today story I saw years ago about allowing blind people to "see" with sound and this program that you mentioned, avid, is just such a program! Amazing...10 years ago it was cutting-edge stuff... now, its a 400 kb free download!
