View Full Version : Measure your mental flexibility

Okay, this test does not measure intelligence, your fluency with words, creativity, or mathematical ability. It will, however, give you some gauge of your mental flexibility.
I warn you that Americans will have an advantage in this test (that should give you some clues). Brits, Aussies, etc. are also at a slight advantage.
In the three years since the test was developed, few people have found that they could solve more than half of the 28 questions on the first try. Many, however, reported getting answers long after the testing had been set aside, particularly at unexpected moments when their minds were relaxed. Some reported solving all the questions over a period of several days.
Take the test as your personal challenge. Eighteen correct answers out of the 28 = GENIUS.
Instructions: Each quotation below contains the initials of words that will make it correct. Furnish the missing words. For example: 60 = M in an H (would be 60 = Minutes in an Hour).
Okay, I got 22 so far and I only worked on it for about 1 - 2 hours. Don't cheat! I'm sure this is on the internet, but I got it because my daughter brought it home from school.
See how many you can get without cheating!
1) 26 = L of the A
2) 7 = W of the A W
3) 1000 = A N
4) 12 = S of the Z
5) 54 = C in a D (with the J)
6) 9 = P in the S S
7) 88 = P K
8) 13 = S on the A F
9) 18 = H on a G C
10) 32 = D F at which W F
11) 8 = S on a S S
12) 200 = D for P G in M
13) 3 = B M (S H T R)
14) 90 = D in a R A
15) 4 = Q in a G
16) 24 = H in a D
17) 1 = W on a U
18) 5 = D in a Z C
19) 57 = H V
20) 11 = P on a F T
21) 1000 = W that a P is W
22) 29 = D in F in a L Y
23) 64 = S on a C
24) 40 = D and N of G F
25) 80 = D to go A the W
26) 2 = No. it T to T
27) 5 = V in the A
28) 2 = P in a P
Good luck and have fun!

Ok, so after like half an hour, I've got 24 of them. The only ones I can't get are numbers 3, 12, 18 and 23. Time for a break; maybe they'll come to me.

I also don't have #12 and #23. They must be pretty hard but I have #3 and #18.

I'll trade you for the ones you don't have.

I know all now.....hahahaha. Eric figured out the ones I didn't know really fast. Either he's really smart or he's only almost smart because maybe he cheated.
Eric says maybe now I can take over the world!

Where are you from? Remember that I said that Americans would have an advantage in this test. (That's a clue.)

haha, these test usually make me feel so ignorant, but then again, I'm too impatient to sit down for an hour and use my mind... I've been looking at them for the last 20 minutes or so, and I have a few figured out. I think I have number 18 figured out, but I could be entirely wrong.

#18 was a hard one and was one of the last ones I figured out. If you want, I'll send you a PM and tell you what it is, so you can check your answer.

What? I'm not going to molest the person. If she wants the answer, fine, I'll send it to her if she wants. If she wants to figure it out on her own, that's fine too. I just don't want to put the answers up yet because I thought I would give everybody a change to figure them all out for themselves.
If you think about them hard enough, you can get all 28 (at least Americans can). The rest of the world will find it a little tougher.

I appreciate the offer, Madre! I think I'm going to wait until I actually have the free time to sit down and figure the other ones out. I'll let you know.

After a while...maybe about 3 days to a week, I'll put up the answers. If people don't want to know, they don't have to read.

Sorry, i didn't use the smiley in regards to what you said above.
I'd just found it depressing that i browsed through, and couldn't do any of them
My mental flexibility is minimal. I might spend a little longer on it tomorrow [procrastination...]

In 26) No. it T to T, the word "No." DOES refer to number. In other words, read it like 2 = Number it T to T. It's pretty easy so you should be able to get it now.

Part of your problem is that you are an Aussie. Some of these things refer to things distinctly American. Also, do they use the metric system in Australia?....because WE don't (hint, hint).
