Just stumbled across a website for a very interesting police program that's running in Canada. Apparently, due to the massive auto-theft problem present, it's become feasible and plausible for the police to purchase cars, fit them with video cameras, microphones, GPS systems and engine immobilisers, and leave them on the streets as "bait cars" to be stolen. Once the would be theif steals the car and drives off, the police track them, hunt them down, disable the cars engine and arrest them.
Sucked in!
There's a website (http://www.baitcar.com/) available with information and somewhat entertaining, if not slightly humorous videos. Make sure to check out oncoming (http://www.baitcar.com/videos/oncoming) for an example of the kind of people this program puts behind bars, or, alternatively, check out these idiots (http://www.baitcar.com/node/100) for a bit of a giggle
