as for what i can do in legal terms - i can now drive, and that's about it. voting age for both men and women is 21, and alcohol and such substances are completely illegal anyway.

didn't stop me downing a lovely glass of white wine at midnight though.

a few books, some money, and a car [sort of].

people drink anyway - at least, those who aren't obedient muslims or teetotal themselves. there's always ways of getting hold of the stuff, you just have to be careful not to get caught.

and the legal age for driving in most places is 18 - it's only the us that seems to feel a child is clever enough to get behind a wheel of a car, but can't handle a drink or two.

as for the voting - admittedly, it's a shame we have to wait, but considering the alternative [no vote at all], i'm quite happy with the way things turned out. and besides, i'm not going to be here for at least the next three years, so it doesn't really make a difference to me. i can vote back home when the time comes, so as far as i'm concerned, i got a pretty good deal out of it.

oh it isn't anything to do with not being able to have a car in my name, of course we're allowed that.

the reason i said i was 'sort of' given it as a birthday present is because it isn't exactly a birthday present - we've had the car in the drive for a fair few months now, and i only just found out that it's mine. so, it wasn't exactly a birthday present, but i discovered it was for me around about the right time.
