View Full Version : AS Survivor Round 6
And following the results of the last poll, the next person to be voted off AS Survivor is...
Schism as Brad Pitt.
First you lose Jennifer, then this competition - not been a particularly good year, has it?
...
now onto the penultimate round of this competition. the three remaining competitors are wobbie as tom hanks, rubberducky as natalie portman, and ziech as elvis presley.
you've made your way through all the [relatively] tricky stuff, and we're back down to basics - and simple bitching.
this is your chance to tell us exactly why neither of the other two competitors deserve our votes. remember nothing is to be taken personally - all attacks must be made on the persona, and not the member playing them.
let the eye gouging begin!

I have to think a bit... you never gave a max word limit or anything. I have lots of homework today, but hopefully I will get my argument in.
i didn't give a word limit because there isn't one.
there are only two people to write about. i doubt you can come up with an essay.
because i'm in the rather generous spirit of giving [i've just had a lovely phonecall from canada, that has made my day], you're getting another twelve hours.
i really must stop extending deadlines like this.
people might start to get ideas.

ok so congrats to elvis and tom for making it this far. they've been doing a good job.
but are they real survivors?
elvis was a music legend, without a doubt. but he wasn't able to get through his fame without becoming a recluse, becoming addicted to many many prescription drugs, and binge eating. obviously, he eventually overdosed on the drugs he was taking and his heart gave out. he was known to be violent, and even gave his wife a black eye once. not what i call survivor material.
tom hanks is often considered a movie legend. but don't you think he's a bit overrated? the roles he plays always seem to go over his ability and he takes on roles that are too big for him. he doesn't have the range to play as many characters as he does. his reputation has far too easily gotten him more success than he deserves. and his current status makes it so easy for him to get roles. he wouldn't have to be good at the actual part, just have the name tom hanks.

[Tom Hanks]
Hello
Firstly Elvis. He was most definitely a musical legend, as young Natalie just mentioned, in his heyday. But ultimately he succumbed to the pressures of fame, and fortune. A prospect that he obviously couldn't handle. Do you think he could handle the fame and fortune that goes with winning this competition. I don't think so.
Natalie Portman. Regarded as the next Audrey Hepburn. She's a stunning, natural beauty, and if i was 25 years younger, i'd... um, i mean, Natalie has starred in countless big name films, films with indie cred, and typical hollywood blockbuster films. It's safe to say she's rolling in the green stuff. And i'm refering to money, not drugs, just so you know. What has she opted to do instead of continuing to make films? Partake in a university education. Now this isn't a bad thing. An education is great. But she's said no to large roles, and broken contracts to go to university. Why vote for someone who could easily just up and leave the balloon to study balloon making! She's done it before (not study balloon making, that was a joke, i meant go to university.)

Is it fair for the other contestants to call me dead from a drug overdose? I mean really. I'm here, arguing my case. You can’t predict the future against me… that’s not fair.
Tom Hanks only ever acts as Tom Hanks.
Tom Hanks is synonymous with an American autocracy on media depictions that encourages the reader to think that they are the best and only state in the world for what ever reason he wholeheartedly believes this.
Tom Hanks for appears in a film which represents the D-Day landings as wholly American, and worst, as a quest to save American ideals.
Tom Hanks seems to think he stands for the ideals of every soldier in a war; he did not serve.
Tom Hanks imports late 20th century values onto every film he does, not historically accurate social attitudes.
Tom Hanks… should not be in the Balloon.
Actress Natalie Portman ordered director Mike Nichols to remove her full frontal nude scenes from her latest movie Closer - despite playing a stripper in the film. Nichols is very protective of the 23-year-old beauty and agreed the topless footage was acceptable, but decided raunchy shots of her fully nude were gratuitous and should be deleted from the drama. Portman explains, "He wants to see my bare ass much less than (even) my father would. He's as or more protective of me than my parents are. So doing sexual, physical stuff for him felt very uncomfortable.”
The first sentence is talking about full frontal nude scenes, but later she is talking about her bare ass. Unless she is anatomically incorrect, her bare ass would not appear in a full frontal nude scene.
My other question is whether or not there are still topless scenes, which are also not full frontal, but are generally considered "nudity". She does play a stripper in the film, so I don't think topless scenes could really be considered gratuitous. If you are going to play a stripper that is to be expected. Remember how she turned down Adrian Lynne’s Lolita on moral grounds, yet had no problem with The Professional? Hypocrite.
Natalie Portman… should not be in the balloon.

ok, wow, i'm not sure if this is against the rules, but you completely took both your argument from sites. like, word for word.

well, you are suppose to write it yourself. and it's just common sense. but if you want to say it wasn't in the rules, that's fine, go ahead.
me and nancy took the time to write it out. if you're too busy for the game, then quit.

I can't even believe I'm replying to this... because I'm not doing my homework when I do so... But... I'm down on crunch time for school... and I didn't plan on getting loaded up with homework. SO far be it from me to "cheat". But I would rather get good grades. Plus... It doesn't matter anyway. At least I'm a musician... I don't act it out... I am it. Most actors are actors because they can't live their own life. They don't see that what they find in the thrill of acting is really just like living in a fantasy novel with no "real world" consequences. You want your original speech? There it was.

but don't get pissy with me just because i knew you had copied it.

It still doesn't make up for the fact that YOUR first one, your being the main word, was copied word for word from sites. Hopefully your votes will suffer because of this.
NO TALKING BETWEEN CONTESTANTS!
if it weren't several hours later, and i'd caught the first person before it spiralled off, then i would have disqualified them from the competition. as it is, you're all at fault for breaking rules here, so i'm just going to let the whole thing go.
however, no more posts are allowed from contestants [unless they're apologising for breaking rules], and the poll is going up now.
...
the poll is in order to decide who will be next to be kicked off [for those of you who have trouble reading], and remember voters, you are voting for the personality and not the poster.

People are voting for the personality. Not me, jackass.
wobbie, one more word out of you in the next round that isn't part of the competition, will result in disqualification.
this is your final warning.

polls are closing now,
